Following the adoption of the SLO role in Scottish football in 2017, we created a Scottish SLO Handbook to help our clubs and their supporter liaison officers to implement the role here in Scotland. The guidance in this handbook is now available in this section of our website for easier access, and provides a baseline for fan engagement for every club in Scotland. The guidance was written using feedback from supporters groups, national associations, clubs and other stakeholder, and is designed to give context to the SLO role in Scotland as well as setting out minimum requirements and recommendations.

Our guidance should be read alongside the UEFA Practical Guide to Supporter Liaison, which was created in partnership with SD Europe in 2021, replacing the previous SLO Handbook which had been in use since 2011. The guide seeks to build on the handbook by documenting the views and experiences of governing bodies, clubs, fan organisations, supporters and other interested parties such as the police, the Council of Europe and the European Group of Football Safety and Security Experts, through a series of interviews conducted with key players. Six case studies offer additional in-depth insights into the diverse topics covered, and the guide also serves as a reference document for SLOs taking part in the SLO education programme offered through the UEFA Academy.
