SD Scotland Receive Continued Funding For Colours of our Scarves

Supporters Direct Scotland delighted to announce we’ve received continued funding for our highly respected anti-discrimination Colours of our Scarves project.

We were one of 11 organisations funded through the Tackling Sectarianism fund.

With the funds received, we will use our position within football to facilitate work with youth players and coaches in schools, colleges, communities and clubs through Supporter Liaison Officers.

Ms Ewing, the Community Safety Minister for Scotland said:

“Over six years the Scottish Government has invested just under £13 million into tackling sectarianism. Dr Duncan Morrow, in his recent review of tackling sectarianism in Scotland, pointed to the significant impact that projects with a strong educational focus can have on changing behaviour.

“The review was also clear that sectarianism needs to be tackled with the same conviction and confidence as racism or homophobia if we are to eradicate it. The projects we are funding will drive that forward in communities across the country.

Mark Reid, Project Manager for the Colours of our Scarves project said:

“We’re delighted at the continuation of funding from the Scottish Government for our work. We appreciate their support and their financial backing and we look forward to continuing our work tackling sectarianism and addressing other issues of inequality within sport”.
